Community Guidelines
Challenge opinions. Respect people. Keep the conversation safe.
Disagree without abuse
Debate ideas without targeting people with harassment, bullying, hate, dehumanization, threats, or calls for violence. Do not encourage self-harm or share instructions intended to hurt someone. Repeated unwanted contact, coordinated harassment, and evading a block are not allowed.
Protect children and teens
Sexual exploitation or sexualization of minors, grooming, coercion, sextortion, and requests for sexual images are prohibited. Do not seek private contact with a teen by bypassing age or messaging restrictions. Do not solicit a child's personal information or encourage dangerous challenges. Report suspected underage accounts or child safety concerns; do not redistribute abusive material to prove a report.
Keep content appropriate
Do not post pornography, explicit sexual content, nonconsensual intimate material, or graphic violence. Do not promote illegal transactions or instruct others to commit serious harm. Discussions about relationships, identity, health, and difficult experiences must remain respectful and appropriate for the permitted audience. A poll is not a place to pressure someone into disclosing intimate information.
Mature topics and language
Respectful discussions of mature topics and gambling, and the use of profanity, are allowed. The rules against harassment, hate, threats, explicit sexual content, exploitation, and graphic violence still apply. Do not use Hot Seat to place or collect bets, facilitate illegal gambling, or encourage minors to gamble. Consider your audience and avoid pressuring anyone to share intimate or sensitive information.
Respect privacy and identity
Do not publish private addresses, phone numbers, credentials, intimate details, or other identifying information without permission. Do not impersonate a person or organization, misrepresent an affiliation, or use a cloned or altered voice to deceive people. Obtain any permission legally required before recording or sharing another person's voice or image. Do not record in situations where someone reasonably expects privacy without appropriate consent.
Use voice messages responsibly
Voice messages follow the same rules as text and images. Do not send threats, sexual content, abusive recordings, or recordings intended to humiliate someone. Send audio only to people who have accepted the conversation and want to hear from you. You can report a voice message, block the sender, or change who can message you. Messages are processed for safety and are not end-to-end encrypted.
Be honest about context
Do not use manipulated media, deceptive claims, scams, or spam to mislead people or cause harm. Do not present a poll result as proof of a fact or as representative of everyone. Machine translation can miss slang, context, and tone; check the original when meaning matters and report the original content if it violates these rules. Do not exploit a mistranslation to harass someone.
Respect creators and the service
Share only content you have rights to use. Do not copy another person's work without permission or a valid legal basis. Do not create fake accounts, manipulate votes or referrals, scrape private data, evade rate limits, or interfere with security. Report security concerns privately through Contact support instead of exposing other users' information.
Reporting, review, and appeals
Use a content menu to report a post, comment, profile, conversation, or message. Add relevant context without reposting harmful material. Reports are not shown to the reported account. Automated checks may hold or reject submissions; authorized moderators can review reports and take action on content or accounts. Mistakes can happen. Request a review through Contact support → Moderation appeal, describing the affected content and decision. Do not submit false reports to silence disagreement. Use block, mute, and hide controls while awaiting a response.
When help is urgent
Hot Seat is not an emergency service and cannot promise immediate review. If someone is in immediate danger, contact emergency services where they are. If you are unsure about sharing something, leave out identifying details and choose the safer audience. These rules apply wherever you use Hot Seat, alongside applicable law and the Terms of Service.
